Christmas window displays by Alex Holloway
During the run-up to Christmas, it’s disappointing to see how many high street shops do so little to decorate their windows for the festive season. My local high street in Winchester is a prime example where most of the windows are quite drab. A few of them will pop some snowflake stickers on the glass but they’re usually poor quality and basically just a white snowflake shape printed onto a square or round piece of clear vinyl. The overall effect is cheap and nasty and does nothing to entice customers through the door.
Static cling window stickers are ideal for decorating your windows for Christmas. Go for the snowflake stickers that are decal cut to follow the shape of the design so that the clear material is barely noticeable. Using packs of static cling snowflakes in different sizes you can create stunning window displays. They’re really easy to apply – just spray water on the glass, slide the sticker into place and squeegee out the excess water when you’re happy with the position. When the festive season is over, just peel them off the window. No mess, no hassle! I like to pop them into a bowl of warm water with a drop of washing up liquid, which keeps them clean and supple, before placing them on the original backing sheet to keep for next year.
You can combine the snowflakes with other designs like static cling Christmas trees to create beautiful windows, or static cling border designs make it really easy to produce an eye-catching design for your shop window or at home. The stickers can be used on mirrors too, which is the ideal solution for adding some stylish festive decoration in hair & beauty salons. You don’t need any special design skills to achieve a lovely window display but if you let your imagination run wild you can create a magical effect which is sure to entice more customers through your door!
One of the great things about static cling window stickers is that anyone can use them. As well as making shop and office windows look great for Christmas, you can use them at home too and be the envy of all your neighbours! Viewed from inside and outside, your patio doors and conservatory will look lovely decorated with pretty snowflakes and Christmas trees and if you decorate your front door and windows, the effect will be really welcoming for your visitors.
